CarTrace is Europe's modern stolen vehicle recovery platform. We combine a free public VIN database, a crowdsourced spotter reward network, and TraceWatch — an intelligence layer over Europe's public traffic cameras — to help owners get their vehicles back.
Our story
We're a small European team that has been building CarTrace since 2023. We come from software, security and automotive backgrounds, and we spent years studying how vehicles are stolen, moved across borders, and recovered throughout Europe.
What we kept finding was the same: owners left waiting in slow police queues, fragmented national registers that don't talk to each other, and tools that hadn't really been updated since the early 2000s. After years of research we decided to stop complaining and help — so we built the platform we wished existed.
Our mission
Give every vehicle owner in Europe free, honest, modern tools to check a vehicle, report a theft and get it back — backed by a network of spotters and public camera intelligence. No fake numbers, no dark patterns, just tools that actually help.
