Accessibility

CarTrace wants its websites and apps to be usable by everyone, including people with a disability. This statement says which standard we aim for, where we fall short today, and how to tell us about a barrier.

The standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, as incorporated in the European standard EN 301 549, the benchmark of the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882).

Compliance status

CarTrace is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 level AA: the parts listed under “Known limitations” do not yet fully meet it.

Known limitations

  • The interactive theft map may not be fully operable with a keyboard or a screen reader. The stolen vehicles it shows can also be found through the search page.
  • The live camera wall shows third-party video streams without captions or audio description, and their player controls are provided by the camera operators.
  • The 3D vehicle view is a visual feature; the vehicle details shown next to it are its text equivalent.
  • Some embedded third-party content — video players, the payment page and bot protection (YouTube, Windy, Stripe, Google reCAPTCHA) — is controlled by its provider and may not meet WCAG 2.1 AA.

What we have done

  • A “Skip to content” link at the top of every page.
  • Keyboard navigation with a visible focus indicator.
  • Animations are reduced when your device asks for reduced motion.
  • Pinch-to-zoom is never disabled.
  • Every page is marked with its language (English, Dutch or German), so screen readers pronounce it correctly.

If you run into a barrier, or need information from CarTrace in another format, email info@cartrace.nl. Tell us which page and what went wrong. We aim to reply within 10 working days.

Complaints

If you are not satisfied with our reply, you can turn to the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights (College voor de Rechten van de Mens), which handles complaints about unequal treatment on the grounds of disability.

This statement was prepared on 25 September 2026, based on a self-assessment by the CarTrace team. We review it at least once a year and whenever the site changes substantially.
